FAQs
1. How long do I have access to the course? Do you provide extensions?
Each program has an initial expiration date of 6 months, designed to encourage focused study and prevent account sharing. Extensions are FREE! If you need more time, just let us know—we're with you until you PASS!
2. If I do not pass my exam, will I need to purchase the course again?
No, we will reset your program free of charge so you can review all of the content and take the mocks again. We do require that you share a copy of your score report before we will reset the program for you.
3. Can I download the audio?
No, the audio cannot be downloaded. At this time, audio files are streamed through our website, so you must use either Wi-Fi or mobile data to access the audio.
4. Where can I find my course?
You can find your purchased courses in your Study Center or Profile Page.
5. How many mock exams come with the course?
- CA MFT: Two 100-question mocks (each can be taken twice), one full-length mock (can be taken twice), two full-length mocks (each can be taken once), plus additional quizzes.
- National MFT: Two 100-question mocks (each can be taken twice), two full-length mocks (each can be taken once), plus additional quizzes.
- CA MFT L&E: Five full-length mocks (three can be taken twice each, and two can be taken once each), plus additional quizzes.
6. How does the CA MFT exam differ from the National MFT exam?
The National MFT Exam has more questions than the California MFT Clinical Exam (200 versus 150). The content areas have some overlap, but the National MFT Exam covers more domains (aka knowledge areas). The domains that are tested on the National MFT Exam can be found here. The National MFT Exam has a larger share of recall-based questions, whereas the California Clinical MFT Exam consists mostly of reasoning-based questions. However, the National MFT exam does include exam questions that will test your critical thinking skills.
7. Do I need to take the L&E MFT Course?
The MFT Law & Ethics exam is required for California MFTs. Our MFT Law & Ethics course is designed specifically for the California exam and will not adequately prepare candidates for other states' law and ethics exams.
8. Which MFT course do I need to take?
If you live in California, you'll need to take the CA Law & Ethics and MFT Clinical Written Exams. The Law & Ethics exam must be taken within one year of receiving your associate registration number. You will be eligible to take the California MFT Clinical Written Exam once you’ve completed 3,000 hours and completed all other California-requirements for becoming a Licensed MFT.
If you live outside of California, you'll need to take the National MFT Exam.
9. Can I get a discount if I took the CA MFT and now want the National MFT program?
Yes, we offer a $50 returning customer discount if you took the CA MFT exam using TDC and now want the National MFT program, or vice versa.
